M Best ( Eng . Best M ; the best of M [iliyah] ) is the second compilation album by the Japanese singer Miliyah Katō . The album was released in Japan on August 3, 2011 and debuted in its first week at number 1 with 160,011 units sold on the Oricon charts in Japan.
Details about the album
Her first compilation, Best Destiny, deals with the samples she was best known for, but this compilation is a celebration of her musical career. Best Destiny is often described as a concept album and M Best as their first compilation album, even though it is their second. The track list is arranged in order of chronological publication of the individual tracks, on two CDs and starts with her debut single Yozora ( 夜空 ) and ends with her last single Yūsha-tachi ( 勇者 た ち ) to date . The tracks are singles that she has released throughout her career. New titles were Rainbow and Me , on which Miliyah commented that she wanted both songs on the compilation in order to leave no questions unanswered about their identity. After all, this compilation was not only intended to reflect her career, she also wanted to present herself to the public according to her feelings. Originally, the title Rainbow was to be part of the single Desire (which was ultimately released as Desire / Baby! Baby! Baby ), which was released on June 22, 2011 in Japan. She noted that June is the middle rainy season in Japan and that rainbows can come out with the rain, which was the inspiration for the title Rainbow . The song was not used for the single, however, but her belief in the song made her re-record the title for this compilation. The title Me should be loaded with anger and should express what she has already said since her debut. Each of her studio albums should have such a title, but few can understand what is really meant to be expressed; with Me this gap, so Miliyah close. The original B-side Kono Mama Zutto Asa Made ( こ の ま ま ず っ と 朝 ま で ), which was released as a promo single due to its popularity, also found its place on the compilation.
In addition to the regular version, which includes two CDs, an extended, limited version was released in digipak with a special photo book and two additional DVDs, the first with all the music videos of her solo career and the second with excerpts from her tours.
