The European standard EN 50242 defines measurement methods for the performance characteristics of household electric dishwashers. It is valid in Germany as DIN EN 50242 DIN EN 60436 , in Austria as OEVE / OENORM EN 50242 / EN 60436 and in Switzerland as SN EN 50242.
Place settings according to the European standard EN 50242
A place setting is a set number of crockery and cutlery in a given composition and size. It is commonly used to indicate the capacity of dishwashers .
A place setting according to the European standard EN 50242 consists of the following crockery, cutlery and serving items:
one piece each
- Dinner plate ø26 cm
- Soup plate ø23 cm
- Dessert plate ø19 cm
- Saucer ø14 cm
- Cup 0.2 l
- Drinking glass 250 ml
- Knife 203 mm
- Fork 184 mm
- Soup spoon 195 mm
- Teaspoon 126 mm
- Dessert spoon 156 mm
In addition to the specified number of place settings, the following serving and cutlery items are also used to check the loading capacity of household dishwashers:
- an oval plate 32 cm (for dishwashers with a capacity of seven or more place settings: 1 oval plate 35 cm)
- a serving bowl ø16 cm
- a serving bowl ø13 cm
- two serving spoons 260 mm
- a serving fork 192 mm
- a sauce spoon
- For dishwashers with a capacity of seven or more place settings: 1 serving bowl 19 cm
A place setting according to EN 50242 differs slightly from a place setting according to the three-part DIN 44990 , which was withdrawn in August 1999 .
