The MaK 600 C is a locomotive type made by MaK , seven of which were built between 1960 and 1962. In addition, two 650 Cs were built , which were identical except for an engine that had been increased to 650 hp. The locomotives, also known as “hut locomotives”, are characterized by a particularly narrow clearance profile , which was specially designed for the often cramped conditions in steelworks.

Six of the seven 600 C went to the Dortmund Railway , another to the Maximilianshütte in Sulzbach-Rosenberg . The only 650 C sold went to Wolff Walsrode in Bomlitz , a second was initially kept for internal company use, and in 1963 it also went to Maximilianshütte. This later also took over some of the Dortmund locomotives.

Two 600 Cs are still in use in Italy today , the Bomlitzer 650 C is now in operation for a museum train in Hildesheim . Four 600 Cs have been scrapped, the whereabouts of two locomotives (the second 650 C and the first 600 C ever built) is unknown.
