The Macaroni Hill is a turn 40 m high hill on McDonald Iceland in the southern Indian Ocean . It rises on the northern edge of the island.
The hill is named after a neighboring colony of golden crested penguins ( English Macaroni penguin ), which in 1980 numbered around 40,000 individuals and which disappeared as a result of a volcanic eruption in 2003.
