Maciej Łagiewski

Maciej Łagiewski (born May 8, 1955 in Wrocław ) is a Polish historian and museum director.

Maciej Łagiewski is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Wroclaw . In 2000 he received his doctorate in humanities from the University of Opole .

In 1991 he became director of the Historical Museum and in 2000 director of six branches of the City Museum in Wroclaw.

He specializes in the history of Wroclaw and Silesia and has published numerous works on them.

Maciej Łagiewski was awarded the Silesian Culture Prize of the State of Lower Saxony in 1991 , the Lower Saxony Order of Merit 1st Class in 2002, the Silver Gloria Artis medal in 2009, the Polonia Restituta Order in 2012 and the Georg Dehio Culture Prize in 2019 .
