Mackenstein is a district and industrial park in the Viersen district of Dülken , Viersen district , North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

District

The district was first mentioned in 1135 Macchenstein (Brasse, Urk. 23); 1332 Makenstein (Weiler, Urk. 648). The name is made up of Macchenstein and Macchenstein, an ending that figuratively means stone, solid house. Make is the weakly inflected genitive of the Old High German nickname Maccho. Mackenstein means the stone, solid house of Macko. A court district (villicatio) is attested for 1135, at the beginning of the 15th century. three farms are located here and ten in 1804. Mackenstein belonged from the 14th century. zu Dülken, but until the 1970s it had a rather subordinate role within the city of Dülken and later the city of Viersen .

In 1970, the allocation of sites in the industrial park began on 83 hectares. It is conveniently located to the neighboring country of the Netherlands on the federal highway 61 (leads to Venlo) and the federal highway 52 (leads to Roermond). Over 40 predominantly medium-sized companies settled on the area, which was gradually expanded to approx. 140 hectares.

In 1979 the Mars company opened a branch in Mackenstein. Other well-known companies are Deutsche Doka GmbH, Peri GmbH, USG Germany GmbH, Sturm GmbH and Moos & Butzen GmbH.

The industrial park has become more and more important in recent years. That is why the formerly Viersen-Bockert motorway connection ( A 61 ) was renamed 'Mackenstein' in around 2002.

Mackenstein-Nord has been developed since the end of 2010. At the beginning of 2011, the marketing of Mackenstein-Südwest began.
