Mada Masr is an independent English language internet newspaper from Egypt. It was founded in June 2013 by journalists from the Egypt Independent newspaper after it had to close in April 2013.

In view of the widespread censorship in Egypt, the independent website is of particular importance. Articles like Sarah Carr's on the Third Square movement have been picked up in the New York Times , for example .

An article about Mahmud as-Sisi, a senior official of the General Intelligence Service and eldest son of President Abd al-Fattah as-Sisi , led to the arrest of several editors in late November 2019.
