The Pyrenean pond cress ( Rorippa pyrenaica (Lam.) Rchb. , Syn .: Rorippa stylosa (Pers.) Mansf. & Rothm. ) Is a species of the pond cress genus ( Rorippa ) within the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae). It is mainly widespread from western to southern to south-eastern Europe.

description

The Pyrenean marsh cress grows as a deciduous, perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 40 centimeters. Usually several upright stems are formed on the short rhizome . A basal leaf rosette is also present during the flowering period. The stem leaves are fiederteilig to fiederschnittig and have half stalk full ears . The fine two to eight pairs of lateral leaf sections have entire margins and are linear to narrow-lanceolate .

The flowering period extends between May and July. The hermaphrodite flowers are fourfold. The four petals are 2.5 to 4 millimeters long.

The Silicules are at a diameter of 1.5 to 2 mm and a length of 2.5 to 6 millimeters at most as long as the horizontal to erect protruding obliquely 6 to 9 millimeters long Fruchtstiele.

The species has chromosome number 2n = 16.

ecology

The Pyrenean pond cress is a hemicryptophyte .

There is insect pollination or self-pollination .

Occurrence

The Pyrenean swamp cress is a southern European sub-Mediterranean floral element . Their main distribution area extends from the Pyrenees to the Carpathian Mountains , north to central France and south-east to Slovakia . In Central Europe they are found isolated, very rarely, in favorable climatic locations, only in the Upper Rhine Plain in the side valleys of the Upper Rhine , in Luxembourg , on the central reaches of the Elbe in the Elbe Valley from Dessau to Magdeburg , in the Valais and at the southern foot of the Alps .

The Pyrenean marsh cress needs base-rich , nitrogen-containing, but low-lime , at least temporarily moist loam or clay soils . In Central Europe it inhabits patchy lawns on the banks of streams and lakes, patchy, overgrown, moist wasteland and greasy meadows . In Central Europe it is a type of order of the Arrhenatheretalia, which is often found in the Silaum variant of the Arrhenatheretum.

Taxonomy

It was first published in 1785 under the name ( Basionym ) Brachiolobos pyrenaicus by Carlo Allioni in Flora Pedemontana , Volume 1, p. 278. The name Rorippa pyrenaica (All.) Rchb, which is valid today . was published by Ludwig Reichenbach in Icones Florae Germanicae et Helveticae ... Volume 2, p. 15. Other synonyms for Rorippa pyrenaica (All.) Rchb. are: Lepidium stylosum Pers. , Rorippa stylosa (pers.) Mansf. & Rothm. , Nasturtium stylosum Shuttlew. ex OE Schulz , Myagrum pyrenaicum Lam. , Nasturtium hispanicum Boiss. & Reut. , Nasturtium pyrenaicum R.Br. , Nasturtium pyrenaicum W.T. Aiton , Sisymbrium pyrenaicum L. , Rorippa hispanica (Boiss. & Reut.) Willk. The specific epithet pyrenaica means "from the Pyrenees"; in the frequently found synonym, stylosa means long styled.
