The magazine of the German Cancer Aid is the official magazine of the aid organization against cancer with the aim of "fighting cancer in all its manifestations". With its reporting, the publication has been campaigning for the principle of action that has been declared for 45 years: “Help. To research. To inform!"

history

The magazine was founded as the first important information and dialogue platform of the German Cancer Aid in order to regularly reach the supporters and those affected nationwide with information and specialist articles on topics of oncology. The magazine appears from the beginning without commercial advertisements in order to be independent of commercial interests. The German Cancer Aid has financed its activities exclusively from donations. It does not receive any public funding.

Readership and content

The "magazine" of the non-profit organization received the Friends of the German Cancer Aid , the Foundation German Children's Cancer Aid and members of the Mildred-Scheel circle for free. In 2018, 343,000 copies appeared four times a year. The selling price of the internationally offered magazine is one euro. In addition to the printed version, the magazine can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF file from the German Cancer Aid in Bonn.

The content of the magazine includes understandable medical reports on cancer research, cancer prevention , individual cancer therapies and questions about self-help after cancer. Constant topics are the social engagement of adults and young people in donation and charity campaigns for the German Cancer Aid. In addition to reports on events by cancer organizations and the various citizens' initiatives, there is the opportunity to express opinions and receive answers to questions via letters to the editor. The basic statements of the Krebshife President Fritz Pleitgen from various cancer experts and health politicians who regularly address the readership in columns and interviews with news and advice have a long tradition .
