Cunhinga is a small town ( Vila ) and a district in Angola , in southwest Africa .

history

Under Portuguese colonial rule , the place was named Vouga, after the Portuguese river Rio Vouga . After Angola's independence in 1975, the place was given its current name.

Cinhinga is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Bié . The district has 43,000 inhabitants (2012 estimate) on an area of ​​1509 km².

education

After the end of the Angolan civil war in 2002 and the rebuilding programs that began a few years later, numerous schools in the Cunhinga district were renovated or rebuilt. In 2013, 1,230 teachers taught at around 200 primary and secondary schools in the district of 56,200 students.
