Magdeburg Annals

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Magdeburg Annals ( Latin Annales Magdeburgenses ) are a chronicle from the 12th century in Latin .

content

The annals give a general history from the birth of Christ to 1188. Mainly events of overriding importance in Roman and German history are presented, in some cases regional events as well.

The Magdeburger Annalen quote statements from other chronicles, such as that of Ekkehard von Aura , the Pöhlder Annalen , the Pegauer Annalen and the Quedlinburger Annalen . It is possible that they are a derivative of the Nienburg annals, which have not been preserved. The Magdeburg annals were probably made in the Berge monastery .
