The hilltop is about 70.0 m above sea level. The burial mound consists of plagues of lawn. The burial mound was built in the Bronze Age between 1800 and 500 BC. Chr.

The burial mound is dome-shaped with a narrow footpath and two lanes that lead to the highest point. Trees and bushes were cleared from the hill in the 1980s and 2009. On the top there is a stone about 1.5 m high with a bronze plate on the side. A few meters southwest of Maglehøj is the 3.5 m high Lille Maglehøj. It is about 20.0 m in diameter.

On Zealand there are a number of hill or passage graves with the name Maglehøj (e.g. the one in Store Heddinge , the one in Øster Egesborg, the one in Brederød and the one in Odsherred).
