Magnus Miller Murray

Magnus Miller Murray (born February 22, 1787 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † March 4, 1838 in Pittsburgh ) was an American politician . He was mayor of the city of Pittsburgh from 1828 to 1830 and again from 1831 to 1832.

Life

Magnus Miller Murray was born in Philadelphia in 1787 to Marry Miller Murray and Alexander Murray. The father was a naval officer in the American Revolutionary War . Magnus Miller Murray attended the University of Pennsylvania and achieved both a bachelor's and master's degree . He was married to Mary Wilkins.

Murray began his political career as an understudy to Judge William Wilkins . From 1828 to 1832 he was mayor of Pittsburgh with one break . He was the first mayor of the city, this office in two periods held.
