from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mahash ( Arabic المحاش, DMG al-Maḥāš ) is located in Sinai in Egypt and is a Bedouin resort on the Red Sea coast on the Gulf of Aqaba .

Geographical location

It is located about 15 km north of Nuweiba and 40 km south of Taba . There are several Bedouin camps and two small Egyptian hotels over a length of approx. 1.5 km .

history

Mahasch has been the name of the beach section and the associated wadi since ancient times. The Bedouin camps were built in 1996, when individual Beduins in Tarabin , Nuweiba became too commercial and restless and they moved to this still untouched place. Tourists live in idyllic palm huts ("Huschas") right on the beach with a view of the mountains of Saudi Arabia . The camps include a restaurant and sanitary facilities (shower house with toilets). For the future, some camps are to be equipped with solar energy and seawater desalination to become autonomous eco-lodges.
