history

Wintersgrün was first mentioned in 1523 in the Elbogen Urbar as a property of Sebastian Thüssel from Daltitz on Neusattl , who came from the lower nobility . In 1550 Thüssel sold Neusattl with all accessories to the Elbogen rule. This pledged the place in 1562 to the city of Elbogen; In 1598 the town became the owner of Wintersgrün. After the Battle of the White Mountain , the property of the Elbogen citizenship was confiscated by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1622 . In 1623 the Hofkammer sold the Litmitz estate with the associated winter green to Marie Magdalena Hertel von Leitersdorf. At the end of the Thirty Years War, the area became a theater of war. In 1646 the siege of the city and castle of Elbogen began , which lasted until the end of the war in 1648. In the 18th century, Wintersgrün again became subordinate to the city of Elbogen.

Wintersgrün lost its original agricultural character in the 19th century. First the extraction of iron ore and gravel took place, later the dismantling of the large brown coal deposits completely changed the place.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Wintersgrün formed a municipality from 1850 that was assigned to the judicial district of Elbogen and the political district of Karlsbad . From 1855, Wintersgrün belonged to the Elbogen district and in 1868 came to the Falkenau district . In 1913 the community was reassigned to the Elbogen district. After the First World War, Czech workers came to the place; they were employed in the mines and in the kaolin washing machine at the Margarethe porcelain factory. In 1930 the village had 952 inhabitants, in 1939 there were 986.

After the Munich Agreement , the municipality of Wintersgrün was incorporated into the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Elbogen district . After the end of the Second World War, the place came back to Czechoslovakia; the expulsion of the Germans began.

In 1948 the village was renamed Vintířov ; she came to Okres Sokolov . In 1971, the villages of Lipnice and Dolní Rozmyšl, which were planned for demolition, were incorporated. Its residents were resettled to Vintířov, which increased the population of the place sharply.
