Josefov (German Josefsdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 7 km northwest of Sokolov at 525 m above sea level. M. to the right of the river valley of the Svatava ( Zwodau ) and belongs to the Okres Sokolov .

Community structure
The community consists of the districts Hřebeny (Hartenberg) , Josefov (Josefsdorf) , Luh nad Svatavou (Werth) and Radvanov (Robesgrün) . Basic settlement units are Hřebeny, Josefov I, Josefov II, Luh nad Svatavou and Radvanov.
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Luh nad Svatavou and Radvanov.
history
The eponymous place Josefsdorf was founded in 1833; this is the youngest place in the church.
Hertenberg Castle ( Hrad Hartenberk ), which probably already existed in the 12th century, was first mentioned in a document in 1230. It was the seat of the rule Hartenberg , to whose owners u. a. Count Schlick also belonged. In the 17th century the castle above the Zwodautal was converted into a palace. In the 17th century, the village of Hartenberg consisted of a farm with 14 residents and the sheep farm with 7 mountain residents.
After the abolition of patrimonial in Bohemia in the middle of the 19th century, Hartenberg and Josefsdorf belonged to the municipality of Werth. Robesgrün was an independent community. The parish church for all locations was in Gossengrün .
Since 1972 Josefov, including its current districts, was incorporated into Krajková . In 1990 it regained its independence; the new community Josefov was formed.
