Citice (German Zieditz ) is a municipality with 913 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers southwest of Sokolov on the Eger and belongs to the Okres Sokolov .

Geographical location
The place is located at the northern foot of the Kaiserwald at 420 m above sea level. M., surrounded by opencast mining holes and spoil heaps.

The municipality Citice consists of the districts Citice ( Zieditz ) and Hlavno ( Kloben ), which also form cadastral districts.
Neighboring communities
Neighboring towns are Dolní Rychnov in the east, Březová in the southeast, Tisová and Hlavno in the south and Bukovany in the northwest.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1360 as Czyticz . In the Middle Ages, the area belonged to two important noble families from Upper Palatinate , the Landgrave von Leuchtenberg and the Nothektiven who brought German settlers into the country.
Since the 19th century, lignite was increasingly extracted here. After 1918 the Viennese coal industry associations in Zieditz and Buckwa and the Zieditz-Haberspirk coal union in Zieditz operated mines, of which the Dionysi-Laurenzi colliery was the best known. In 1872 the railway from Komotau to Eger was inaugurated, from which extensive industrial railway facilities branched off in Zieditz.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the district of Falkenau an der Eger .
