history

The village was founded by German colonists. Ebnode was first mentioned in a document in 1370 in a fiefdom register of the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg . Over the years the name changed to Ebmeth . Other owners of the place were the Schlicken , who attached the place to the Falkenau rulership . After the Battle of White Mountain , the Protestant line of this family left Bohemia. Their property was confiscated and sold to the von Nostitz family in 1622 . In 1785 the place consisted of 52 houses. In 1840 Ebmeth had grown to 73 houses and had 531 residents.

After the abolition of patrimonial Ebmeth formed a part of the community Frohnau in the district Falkenau from 1850. In 1873 the Ebmeth community was established. In 1930 there were 348 inhabitants in Ebmeth, compared to 285 in 1939. After the Munich Agreement in 1938, the community was incorporated into the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the district of Falkenau an der Eger . After the end of the Second World War, the place came back to Czechoslovakia. In 1946 the Germans were expelled. The village was not repopulated and was incorporated into the Císařský les military training area, later the Prameny military training area (VVP). In 1947 the cleared place was given the name Rovná . In the same year the houses were torn down to the ground. After the VVP Prameny was abolished in 1954, the Rovná corridors from the military area were incorporated into the Kostelní Bříza municipality.

In 1961 the place consisted of 9 houses and had 21 residents. In the mid-1960s, the construction of a socialist model village in prefabricated construction began on the middle and upper part of the demolished village. On January 1, 1969, the Plattensiedlung received the status of a community. After 1970 an agricultural school was established in Rovná. In 1975 critical views were expressed within the KPTsch about the construction of the prefabricated housing estate. In the 1980s, the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague set up a study center for students from developing countries in the model village. During this time, the model proved to be a failure. Due to a lack of jobs in the village, there was a strong migration of residents to the industrial areas of the Falkenau basin . To counteract this trend, Wolhynientschechen were settled in Rovná in the 1990s. In 2001 Rovná consisted of 28 houses and had 598 inhabitants. Most of the prefabricated buildings are now in dire need of renovation.

Son of the community

  • Johann von Koch (1850–1915), architect and university professor in Prague and Riga
