history
Neugrün was first mentioned in 1353 as the seat of the knights Heinrich, Friedrich and Franz Presater when the Schönwerth court was sold to Abrecht Notthracht von Thierstein .
In 1553 Neugrün was divided into Unter and Ober Neugrün. It is believed that the owners of Unter Neugrün were servants of the Schlicken . When the Finkermühle was to be built on the territory of the rulership near the border to Schlick's property in 1598, Christoph Schlick's consent had to be obtained.
Mining has been going on in the area of Unter Neugrün for a long time. A tunnel was excavated at the Bartelmühle. However, the deposits were not very productive and ore mining was stopped again. At the edge of the forest, clay was extracted in several pits. In Ober Neugrün mining was carried out on lead and silver. At Deutschbundesort, brown coal pits had been in operation since the 19th century. Around 1840 Unter Neugrün had 220 inhabitants and consisted of 33 houses. The parish was Lanz .
After the abolition of patrimonial Unter Neugrün formed from 1850 a district of the community Zwodau in the district of Falkenau . From 1880 the community of Unter Neugrün was established. In 1885 the Czech name Dolní Neugrün was also used, which was changed to Dolní Nový Grün in 1923 .
In 1939 Dolní Nivy had 536 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement , the community of Unter Neugrün was incorporated into the German Reich and belonged to the Falkenau district until 1945 . After the end of the Second World War, the place came back to Czechoslovakia and the expulsion of the Germans began. In 1948 the municipality Dolní Nový Grün was renamed Dolní Nivy . 1953 Horní Nivy was incorporated. In the 1950s and 1960s, intensive lignite mining began in open-cast mining south of the town. In 1960 the Boučí community came to Dolní Nivy as a district. At the same time, the Rozmyšl community was dissolved; whose district Horní Rozmyšl was slammed Dolní Nivy.
