history

Toklesgrun was first mentioned in a document in 1492. Subsequently, the name of the village changed from Tocklasgrun and dark green to Doglas green . The place name gave rise to legends; this is how the legend of a Scottish Count Douglas, who is said to have founded the village, came about. In 1525 the place in the Elbogen Urbar was indicated with 12 settler positions as well as a mill and board saw and belonged to the possessions of Count Schlick . In the 16th century, Doglasgrün came together with Litmitz, Deutschbundesort and Griesbach to the properties of the city of Elbogen.

After the Battle of the White Mountain , the property of the Elbogen citizenship was confiscated by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1622 . In 1623 the Hofkammer sold the Litmitz estate with the associated Doglas green to Marie Magdalena Hertel von Leitersdorf. At the end of the Thirty Years War, the area became a theater of war. In 1646 the siege of the city and castle of Elbogen began , which lasted until the end of the war in 1648. After the war, Johann Hartwig von Nostitz-Rieneck on Falkenau acquired parts of Doglasgrün together with the Litmitzer goods. The other part of the village belonged to Markus Maximilian von Planckenheim on Ober Chodau . Until the abolition of patrimonial the village remained divided into two parts.

From 1850 Doglasgrün formed a community in the Falkenau district and from 1921 in the Elbogen district. In 1930 the village had 900 inhabitants, in 1939 there were 871. After the Munich Agreement , the Doglasgrün community was incorporated into the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Elbogen district . After the end of the Second World War, the place came back to Czechoslovakia and the expulsion of the Germans began. In 1948 the village was renamed Vřesová ; she came to Okres Sokolov . In 1950 the mining of lignite began. In 1958 the place was abandoned and it was demolished until 1960.

In 1969 a gas works for coal gasification was established, which became one of the largest producers of coal gas in Czechoslovakia. Apartment blocks were built north of the industrial complex. The Vřesová gas works, which belongs to Sokolovská uhelna as, caused the “cat stink” that occurs in certain weather conditions in the Vogtland (Oelsnitz, Klingenthal) and in Upper Franconia . Between 2000 and 2002 the gas plant was converted into a power plant with an output of 2 × 200 MW. In 2005 Linde Technoplyn built the largest air separation plant in the Czech Republic in the Vřesová power plant .
