Božičany ( German Poschetzau ) is a municipality in Karlovarský kraj in the Czech Republic .
history
The village was first mentioned in writing in 1359 ( Poschytzaw ), with the settlement of Slavs as early as the 7th century. The hardest time for the population was during the Thirty Years' War , when taxes were raised 30 to 40 times and people had to work all week. In 1679 the plague wiped out a large part of the population.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Elbogen district . In August 1944, a satellite camp of the Flossenbürg concentration camp was set up in Poschetzau .
