history

The first written mention of the village Wrbyczi , which belongs to the Libkovice estate, was made in 1384. At that time, the owners were the Petrovec von Libkovice. In 1434 Otík from Chrast bought Libkovice with all accessories; from 1452 it belonged to the Lords of Ocelovice. In 1577 the Libkovice manor was divided; in the following five years the Hora brothers sold both parts one after the other. In 1607 Katharina Berka von Dubá owned the whole Libkovice estate including Vrbice. The inheritance from her daughter fell to Franz Augustin von Waldstein in 1681 . After his death in 1684 his brother, the Prague bishop Johann Friedrich von Waldstein, became the owner of the estate. He sold it in 1693 to Franz Nikolaus Freiherr von Klebelsberg, who passed it on to Johann Georg Graf von Clary and Aldringen that same year . Franz von Hartig bought the estate from Count Clary-Aldringen in 1755 . In 1774 Franz Xaver Putz von Breitenbach and Anton von Klement von Ludwig von Hartig acquired Gut Libkovice. From 1806 the Wenisch family owned Libkovice and Velká Vrbice.

After the abolition of patrimonial rule, the political municipality Großfürwitz / Velká Vrbice with the district Poschau / Pošov in the Luditz district was established in 1850 . Großfürwitz was parish to Nahořečice until its own church was built in 1890. In 1899 Josef Welisch sold the goods to Count Vinzenz von Thurn-Valsassina. From 1921 the municipality was named Großfürwitz / Vrbice. In 1930 there were 408 people in Groß Fürwitz. After the Munich Agreement , the community was added to the German Reich in 1938 and until 1945 the village belonged to the Luditz district . In 1939 Groß Fürwitz had 392 inhabitants. After the end of the war, Vrbice returned to Czechoslovakia and was classified in the Okres Toužim in 1946. Since 1961 Vrbice belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary. In the same year Skřipová, which had previously belonged to Verušičky , was umgemeindet to Vrbice. Between 1975 and 1990 Vrbice was incorporated into Valeč .
