Chodov (German Gängerhof ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers southeast of Bečov nad Teplou and belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary .
history
At the location in the south of the Kaiserwald there has been a manor since the 16th century, which the castle captain of Beschau , Hans Georg Gienger (Gänger) , was awarded in 1567. In the 18th century, a settlement was built around the courtyard that took its name. To the north-east of the village, Anton Liewald from Bärringen built a vitriol hut at the beginning of the 19th century , which was converted into an excursion restaurant after it ceased operations in 1880.
On the gallows hill between Chodov and Bečov nad Teplou are the remains of the Petschau execution site, on which the city gallows were located until 1765.
In 1975 Chodov was incorporated into Bečov nad Teplou; since 1992 the place has been independent again.
In the center of the village is the 200-year-old Gängerhofer beech. The natural monument has a height of 18 m and a trunk circumference of 4.20 m.
