history

The place was first mentioned in 1293 as Nowa Raluna . A hunting pavilion belonging to Loket Castle is said to have been located here as early as the 12th century . Between 1359 and 1411 the place belonged to Elbogen Castle and then came under Falkenau until 1553 . In 1554 the Schlicken became new owners and Nová Role came under the rule of Schlackenwerth . In 1622 the Lords of Nostitz acquired the place and held it until the patrimonial rule was replaced in 1848. In 1847, Neu Rohlau had 280 inhabitants and consisted of 50 houses.

After the discovery of large kaolin stores, the landowner Karl Hassmann built a kaolin mill and slurry plant. In 1881 the local railway from Chodau to Neudek was built . With the inauguration of the Karlsbad – Johanngeorgenstadt railway line in 1899, the town received a railway connection.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Elbogen district .

During the Second World War, a concentration camp was established in Neu Rohlau on December 7, 1942. This was a satellite camp of the Ravensbrück concentration camp until August 1943 and then of the Flossenbürg concentration camp ; the prisoners had to work in the company Bohemia-Keramische Werkstätten AG, which was confiscated by the SS. The camp was evacuated in several transports from April 19, 1945. After the end of the war, the German residents were expelled and the former concentration camp was used as an internment camp for Germans.

During the territorial reform of 1960 Mezirolí was incorporated. Nová Role has been a city since 1964. In 1976 Děpoltovice and Nivy were added to the city. In 1980 there was a change in the land boundary with Božičany , in which the Novorolský rybník pond was added to the urban area of Nová Role. A year later Božičany and Jimlíkov were incorporated.
