Sadov (German Sodau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers north of Karlovy Vary and belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary .

geography

Sadov is located in the Falkenau basin in the valley of the Sadovský creek. Sadovský vrch (497 m) rises to the north. There is a larger open-cast kaolin mine in the west. Sadov is located on the Dalovice – Merklín railway line and has two stations, "Sadov" and "Sadov-Podlesí". The Chomutov – Cheb railway crosses the village without stopping and runs on a bridge over the Sadovský potok.

Neighboring towns are Liščí Díra in the north, Hájek in the northeast, Nová Víska and Lesov in the east, Vysoká and Nová Hospoda in the southeast, Dalovice in the south, Otovice in the southwest, Březinka, Kocourek and Podlesí in the west and Velký Rybník in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village Sadov comes from the year 1523. The district Bor, which can be traced back to 1342, is older.

After the abolition of patrimonial , Sodau formed a political municipality in the Karlsbad district from 1850. In the second half of the 19th century, the Zettlitz kaolin works began to mine the kaolin deposit near Sodau. There were also two lignite mines, the “Leopold” and “Frisch Glück” mines. With the local railway Karlsbad– (Dallwitz) –Merkelsgrün , inaugurated in 1902 , the village received a train stop. Between 1872 and 1913, Sodau was part of the Halmgrün municipality, after which the political municipality of Sodau emerged again. In 1930 Großenteich and Halmgrün were incorporated into Sodau. The community had 1155 inhabitants including the districts, 92% of whom were Germans.

As a result of the Munich Agreement , the municipality was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. In 1939 there were 989 people in the community. Until 1945 Sodau was part of the German district of Karlsbad and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War.

From 1946 to 1960 the municipality, which was renamed Sadov in 1948, belonged to Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí and since 1961 again to Okres Karlovy Vary. In 1950 Lesov was incorporated, and in 1976 Bor and Stráň were also added.

The cadastral area of ​​the core village Sadov is 171 hectares. In the 76 houses, 370 inhabitants were registered in the 2001 census.

The municipality of Sadov consists of the districts Bor ( Haid ), Lesov ( Lessau ), Podlesí ( Halmgrün ), Sadov ( Sodau ) and Stráň ( Elm ), which also form cadastral districts. Basic settlement units are Bor, Konkordie, Lesov, Na Rejdě, Podlesí, Sadov I, Sadov II, Stráň and U konkordie. The settlements Liščí Díra ( Fuchsloch ) and Vitický Dvůr ( Widitzhof ) also belong to Sadov .
