history

Halmgrün was first mentioned in writing in 1557.

After the abolition of patrimonial Halmgrün formed a community in the Karlsbad district from 1850. In the second half of the 19th century, the Zettlitz kaolin works began to mine the kaolin deposit between Halmgrün and Sodau . Between 1872 and 1913 Sodau was incorporated into Halmgrün, after which the political municipality of Sodau emerged again. With the local railway Karlsbad– (Dallwitz) –Merkelsgrün , inaugurated in 1902 , the village received a train stop.

In 1930 Halmgrün was incorporated into Sodau. As a result of the Munich Agreement , the village was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. Until 1945 Halmgrün was part of the German district of Karlsbad and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. In 1946 Halmgrün came to Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí and was renamed Podlesí in 1948. Since 1961 Podlesí belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary. Today Podlesí, including the Vitický Dvůr ( Widitzhof ) settlement, consists of 32 houses. In 1991 the place had 222 inhabitants, in 2001 there were 117.
