history

The first written mention of a Lesov farm belonging to the Schlackenwerth lordship was in 1523. In the 18th century, lignite mining began in the “Leopold” and “Frisch Glück” mines west of the village. In the course of the construction of the railway from Schlackenwerth to Karlsbad , the pits were closed in the 1860s and some of them were filled.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lessau formed from 1850 a district of the Hayd community in the Karlsbad district. In 1873 the Franz Schmidt porcelain factory was established in Lessau. This has been known as the Concordia porcelain factory since it was bought by the Löw brothers in 1919. Since 1913 Lessau formed a political municipality in the Karlsbad district. In 1927 Josef Lenhart founded a second porcelain factory with the Schneider porcelain factory. In 1930 Lessau had 801 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement , the municipality was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. In 1939, 803 people lived in Lessau. Until 1945 Lessau was part of the German district of Karlsbad and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. In 1946 the parish came to Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí. Lessau was renamed Lesov in 1948, and incorporated into Sadov in 1950 . Since 1961 the village has belonged to the Okres Karlovy Vary. In 1991 the place had 277 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 85 houses in which 313 people lived.
