Vojkovice (German Wickwitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers east of Ostrov nad Ohří and belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary .

Vojkovice is located at the north-western foot of the Duppau Mountains in the Eger Valley below the confluence of the Bystřice . The Falkenau Basin extends to the west and the Ore Mountains to the north . The mountain Travná ( Grassberg , 827 m) rises to the northeast . In the east, the municipality borders on the Hradiště military training area .
Neighboring towns are Damice and Horní Hrad in the north, Stráž nad Ohří in the northeast, Jakubov in the east, Velichov in the south, Radošov in the southwest, Mořičov and Ostrov nad Ohří in the west and Květnová and Ovčárna in the northwest.
The formerly eastern villages of Olšenice ( Olschnitz ) and Tocov ( Totzau ) as well as Petrov ( Petersdorf ) and Lipoltov ( Lappersdorf ) in the southeast were evacuated and destroyed during the establishment of the military area.
Community structure
The municipality Vojkovice consists of the districts Jakubov ( Jokes ) and Vojkovice ( Wickwitz ), which at the same time also form cadastral districts. Basic settlement units are Jakubov, Nový Svět and Vojkovice. Vojkovice also includes the settlements of Hradiště ( Burgstadtl ), Jakšovy Domky ( Gakschhäuseln ), Mlýn Na Ohří ( Egermühle ) and V Olšinkách ( Erletzgraben ).

history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1088. In 1226 Vojkovice was placed under the administration of Elbogen Castle as part of the Zettlitz Gau . The parish was Velichov .
From 1850 Wickwitz formed a political municipality in the district of Sankt Joachimsthal . Between 1870 and 1873, the Buschtěhrad Railway Company (BEB) built the line from Komotau to Eger along the Eger and Wistritz rivers , with which Wickwitz received a rail connection. In 1890 435 people lived in Wickwitz. In 1895 the local railway line Wickwitz-Gießhübl-Sauerbrunn, laid out at the mouth of the Lamnitzbach, was put into operation on the initiative of Heinrich Mattoni from Burgstadtlberg through the Egertal to its mineral water source and the health resort Sauerbrunn at the mouth of the Lamnitzbach . In 1930 the community had 770 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement , it was annexed to the German Reich in 1938. In 1939 714 people lived in Wickwitz. From 1938 to 1945 Wickwitz was part of the German district of Sankt Joachimsthal and came back to Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. From 1949 to 1960 the municipality belonged to the Okres Karlovy Vary-okolí and since 1961 to the Okres Karlovy Vary. In 1961 Jakubov was incorporated. In the 1990s, the Vojkovice – Kysibl-Kyselka railway was closed.
