The Bystřice (German Wistritz ) is a left tributary of the Eger in the Czech Republic . It arises in the Ore Mountains from two source streams, the Red and the White Wistritz, which unite in Pstruží ( Salmthal ).

The Rote Wistritz is considered to be the main source. It rises on the ridge of the Ore Mountains southwest of the Gottesgaber Spitzberg in the V kleči high moor . On its course to the southwest, the Bystřice flows past the villages of Hřebečná and Abertamy as well as at the western foot of the Pleßberg to Pstruží .

The sources of the White Wistritz (Bíla Bystřice) are located east of the town of Horní Blatná . It flows through the former mountain town of Pernink , takes on the Rybná (Fischbach) coming from Abertamy on the left and unites in Pstruží with the Rote Wistritz, which also flows to the left, to the Wistritz.

The river runs in a southeast direction. The Eliasbach (Eliášův potok) flows into Merklín on the left. At the southern foot of the Ore Mountains is Hroznětín , where the river turns to the east. Other places on the run are Bystřice (Langgrün), Kfely (Gfell) and Ostrov (Schlackenwerth).

From Ostrov down, the Chomutov – Cheb railway runs along the river and crosses it in several bridges. Shortly before the mouth of the river, the disused Vojkovice – Kysibl-Kyselka railway bridges the river.

After 28 km the Bystřice flows into the Eger at the settlement of Hradiště between Velichov ( Welchau ) and Vojkovice .
