Merklín ( German Merkelsgrün ) is a municipality in Karlovarský kraj in the Czech Republic .

Merklín lies at the foot of the southern roof of the Ore Mountains below the Plešivec in a valley basin at the confluence of the Eliášův potok in the Bystřice . The place located 2 kilometers north of the town of Hroznětín belongs to the Okres Karlovy Vary . It is a resort in the forests of the Ore Mountains.

history
The first mention of Merkelsgrün of 23 May 1273 a papal document of Gregory X . Until the revolution of 1848/1849 the place belonged to the rule Schlackenwerth .
With the opening of the local railway Karlsbad– (Dallwitz) –Merkelsgrün , Merkelsgrün received a railway connection.
On December 1, 1930 Merkelsgrün had 659 inhabitants, on May 17, 1939 there were 556 and on May 22, 1947 527 inhabitants.
The community is a traditional location for wood processing companies. The cardboard factory GT Mandl is the main employer in the area, along with Elektroporcelán as, a manufacturer of electrical insulators.
