Mahmud Abu Zeid

Mahmud Abu Zeid (also Mahmoud Abu Zaid , Arabic محمود أبو زيد, DMG Maḥmūd Abū Zaid ; * 1987 ), known by his stage name Shawkan , is an Egyptian press photographer .

For the photo agency Demotix he took pictures of one of the protest camps of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo , which were directed against the takeover of power by the military. Since 14 August 2013 Abu Zeid sitting in the high-security prison Tura in custody , "although this is also limited by Egyptian law for two years."
