Maida Vale is an underground station on the London Underground in the City of Westminster . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2, at the intersection of Elgin Avenue and Randolph Road. The name of the station is derived from the Maida Vale district . The street of the same name (A5) is around 50 meters east of the station. In 2014, 3.45 million passengers used the station served by the Bakerloo Line .

The station building, designed by architect Stanley Heaps and made of glazed terracotta bricks, is similar in style to that of Leslie Green , from which most of the Bakerloo Line tunnel stations of the early 20th century come. Maida Vale was one of the first London Underground stations to have escalators instead of elevators from the start . The station has been a listed building ( Grade II ) since 1987 .

The station opened on June 6, 1915, but the trains had already passed the unfinished station for four months and continued to Kilburn Park . During the planning phase, the station name Elgin Avenue was planned. In 2006 the station was renovated, whereby it was particularly important to restore the artistically valuable mosaic rondelles in the counter hall. These mosaics are among others in the film down from Alfred Hitchcock to see. The video for the Chemical Brothers' single Believe shows a train arriving at Maida Vale station.
