history

At the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris in June 2018, KNDS presented a technology carrier as the Euro Main Battle Tank (E-MBT). The demonstrator with a weight of 59.6 tons consisted of the chassis of the Leopard 2A7 main battle tank and the Leclerc tower for a crew of three soldiers. In addition, the German arms company Rheinmetall previously presented a demonstrator for a possible completely new successor model at Eurosatory 2016.

The Rheinmetall 130 mm L / 51 weapon system would be conceptually intended for the new Main Ground Combat System (MGCS).

On June 19, 2018, shortly after the Eurosatory armaments fair in Paris, the German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen and the French counterpart Florence Parly signed the declaration of intent on arms cooperation in the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS).
