Maio II. Orsini
Maio II. Orsini (also Mateo or Matthaios Orsini ) († 1259 or 1264) from the Italian Orsini family was Count Palatine of Kefalonia from 1238 until his death .
Life
The exact origin of Maios II is not known. His father was probably Count Palatine Maio I. Orsini . Before 1228 Maio II married the Byzantine princess Anna (Theodora) Angelina of Epirus , probably a daughter of Michael I. Komnenos Dukas , the despot of Epirus.
In 1238 Maio I died, Maio II became the third Count Palatine of Kefalonia and Zakynthos. Like his predecessor, he submitted as a vassal to the neighboring states of Sicily , Epirus and Achaia .
Maio II died in 1264 at the latest, his son Riccardo Orsini succeeded him.
