Erna Maisack

Erna Maisack (born October 13, 1941 in Plaidt ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the Federal Republic of Germany - appeared as a 400 meter runner in the first half of the 1960s .

After finishing third in the German championships in 1961 and 1963, she won the title in 55.2 seconds in the 1964 Olympic year. Her subsequent third place in the all-German eliminations meant her nomination for the Games in Tokyo , where the women's 400 meters were Olympic for the first time. There she stayed below her potential, however, and finished seventh in her lead in 58.6 s. With that she was more than three seconds away from the top of the world, since the eighth and last of the finals, the French Évelyne Lebret , ran 55.5 s; it won Elizabeth Cuthbert of Australia in 52.0 s.

Erna Maisack started for TV Jahn Plaidt.

She is 1.66 m tall and weighed 56 kg in her active time.
