Makeen or Makin is a city in the Pakistani region of South Waziristan in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province .

The area around Makeen is affected by the conflict in northwest Pakistan and was considered a stronghold of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

On June 8, 2011, shortly after midnight, around 100 to 150 TTP fighters attacked a base of the Pakistani armed forces in Makeen. About 20 people were killed.
