Makoto Yukimura
Makoto Yukimura ( Japanese 幸 村 誠 , Yukimura Makoto ; born May 8, 1976 in Yokohama ) is a Japanese mangaka (comic artist).
He made his debut as a manga artist in 1999 with Planetes in the Morning , a Japanese manga magazine devoted to his genre. Set in 2074, the series became a huge success, appeared in many languages, and served as a template for an anime in 2003 . Yukimura has been working on the Viking story Vinland Saga since 2005 .
In 2002 he received the 33rd Seiun Prize for Planetes , an award for outstanding science fiction works. In 2012 he was awarded the Kōdansha Manga Prize in the general category for Vinland Saga .
