Makowiec is a cake of Polish cuisine .

To prepare, you make a sweetened yeast dough and a filling made of poppy seeds , raisins and candied fruits. During preparation, the rolled out dough is spread with the filling and then rolled up. This creates the typical snail shape when the gate is cut . After baking, the cake is coated with icing and then left to cool. Makowiec is one of the specialties that are consumed at the traditional Polish Christmas party.

Derived from the term Mak for poppy seeds , the term in the Polish language stands for poppy seed cake and cake with poppy seeds.
