Malatesta da Verucchio
Malatesta da Verucchio (* 1212 in Verucchio , † 1312 in Rimini ) was an Italian condottiere . He was lord of Rimini from 1295 and the founder of the Malatesta dynasty .
He was the father of Giovanni ("Gianciotto") Malatesta († 1304), who killed his wife Francesca da Rimini when she took his handsome brother Paolo Malatesta as a lover - which ensured everyone a place in Dante's Inferno .
