Malawach or malawah ( Hebrew מלאווח or מלווח) is a deep-fried bread, which is a staple food for the Yemeni Jews .

Malawach consists of thin layers of puff pastry , coated with oil or fat and cooked in a frying pan. It's traditionally served with hard-boiled eggs, skhug (sauce), and a tomato dip. Frozen malawach can be used as a substitute for batter in various recipes.

Malawach is similar in production, taste and consistency to the Somali Ma lawax , which is usually eaten for weekend breakfast with ghee and honey.
