Maldon and East Chelmsford is a former constituency in the United Kingdom .

Maldon and East Chelmsford was a constituency in the English county of Essex for elections to the House of Commons from 1997 to 2010 . The constituency included the District of Maldon and part of the Borough of Chelmsford .

In 1997, John Whittingdale was elected to the UK Parliament as the Conservative Party MP in this constituency, and was re-elected in the 2001 and 2005 elections. In 2010 the constituency was divided into the two new counties, Maldon and Witham .
