Painter of Palermo 489
The painter of Palermo 489 was a provisional names designated ancient Greek vase painter who works in its Corinthian - black-style decorated. He worked during the transition from the orientalizing to the black-figure style (640 to 625 BC). He is best known as a trainer of the Columbus painter and thus indirectly also an influencer of other important early Corinthian vase painters such as the Chimaira painter and the Chimaira group around him. Darrell A. Amyx calls him the great teacher of the Columbus Painter and a powerful and accomplished painter . He mainly painted aryballoi .
