Malik Rumeau

Malik Rumeau (born June 20, 1977 in Corbeil-Essonnes ) is a French screenwriter and dramaturge .

Life

Rumeau grew up in Corbeil-Essonnes, where he attended the Lycée Robert Doisneau . He studied at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and the Académie Nationale des Arts de l'Inde du Sud (Kerala Kalamandalam). From 2002 to 2007 he worked as a choreographer and actor in numerous productions at the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe in Saint-Denis , which was then directed by Alain Ollivier . This was followed by a theater tour of several years with Pierre Corneilles Cid , where he worked as an actor and set designer. A production of Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky followed with the theater group Momentum Theater , with which the group also went on tour in 2010. Further productions at various theaters in France followed. In 2014 Rumeau founded the theater group Interférences in his hometown , which found its venue in the Théâtre de Corbeil-Essonnes and brought Victor Hugos Ruy Blas to the stage in 2016 .

In addition to his work at the theater, Rumeau has worked with Houda Benyamina in the field of film. Together they wrote the script for Benyamina's short film Sur la route du paradis , which was released in 2011. Benyamina, Romain Compingt and Rumeau also wrote the screenplay for the film Divines , which premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival in May 2016 . For Divines , Rumeau, Benyamina and Compingt were nominated for a César in the category Best Original Screenplay in 2017 .
