The Malik Sardoba is a well or a cistern in Uzbekistan , which served to supply water to the Raboti Malik caravanserai, which was founded as a fortress ( Ribat ) . It is located between Samarkand and Bukhara in the municipality of Maklikrabot , a few hundred meters from Navoi Airport . The Sarboba is located underground and was supplied by an underground channel ( Karis ) from the Serafshan River .

A staircase led down to the water level. The complex is covered with a stupa-like stepped dome and served as a water supply for the former Rabat Malik palace.

Abdullah Khan II Scheibani (ruled 1583–1598) is said to have built or renovated over 400 Sardobas . Its ruins now mark the old caravan routes of the Silk Road .
