Malta Financial Services Authority

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA; German " Malta Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht ") is the financial regulator of Malta . It was founded in 2002, taking over the tasks of the Central Bank of Malta , the Malta Stock Exchange and the Malta Financial Services Center . Since then, the supervision has been working autonomously . This is particularly important due to the worldwide popularity of Malta as a location in order to be able to protect investors and consumers .

tasks

The area of responsibility of financial supervision not only includes an annual report on its own activities, but also a strategic plan that must be presented to the House of Representatives . When carrying out one's own work, the main focus is on prevention. That is why there are clear rules for all financial transactions and suspicious cases are followed up in detail. In addition to control, the MFSA is also largely involved in the development of the financial center of Malta. Not only are market optimizations proposed, but initiatives are also worked out and supported.

Networking

MFSA is a member of the European Banking Authority , the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, and the European Securities and Markets Authority . In addition, it was registered with the International Organization of Securities Regulatory Authorities and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors .
