Chelsea Fringe
Chelsea Fringe is a series of events founded in 2012 which accompanies the Chelsea Flower Show of the Royal Horticultural Society in London and the surrounding area and in Bristol . It is a community interest company founded by Tim Richardson and is mainly supported by volunteers, but also supported by the National Trust . City beautification activities ( guerrilla gardening ) through private initiatives are also taken into account, such as the roundabout in Victoria Park Village (Lauriston Road) in Hackney . Numerous Londoners give insights into their private gardens. There are also readings by authors , art exhibitions and art events.
2012
In 2012, around 100 individual activities took place, including Steve Wheen's pothole gardens, a bicycle beer garden , a floating forest in Portobello Dock and the greening of river boats on the Thames and its canals. An "edible shopping street" with fruit trees has been established in Chiswick .
2013
In 2013 the Chelsea Fringe took place from May 18th to June 9th. The venues included the Garden Museum in Lambeth , Battersea Power Station and the Rothsay Community Herb Garden in Bedford . An emphasis was placed on the cultivation of crops ( urban gardening ) in the city, so among other things an "edible bus stop " (Lambeth Hospital Bus Stop, Route 322) and an "edible shopping street" (Salusbury Road and Queens Park High Street, NW6) ) planned. A “bee-friendly taxi” planted by Adele Hewitt and Fiona Weir was exhibited in the newly designed garden of the Horniman Museum in Dulwich .
