Malta Song for Europe 2000 (abbreviation: MSFE 2000 ) was the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 , which took place in Stockholm ( Sweden ) after Charlotte Nilsson won the Eurovision Song Contest last year with her song Take Me To Your Heaven . The competition was won by Claudette Pace with the song Desire .

A total of 16 entries were selected by a jury of experts to take part in the final, which took place on January 15, 2000 in the Mediterranean Conference Center . As in the previous year, on January 15th the songs were performed exclusively in English . The jury selected the 16 finalists with 100% of the votes, who entered on January 15th to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The artists had the choice of performing their songs in English or Maltese , since both languages are their official language, but they all chose English.

In the final, which took place on January 15, 2000, 16 artists sang for victory in the preliminary round. Ultimately, it was won by Claudette Pace with the song Desire . The points were awarded by 7 jurors, who each had to assign points to each song, so that they awarded each value from 1-12 and 14, 16, 18 and 20 once.
