Malton Castle

Malton Castle was a castle in Malton in the English county of North Yorkshire . William Tyson, Lord of Alnwick had a wooden moth erected in the 11th century. Later the castle was given to Eustace de Vesci , who rebuilt it in stone.

Eustace negotiated the surrender of the castle to King David I in 1135. The Scots equipped it as a garrison, but in the same year it was retaken by the English. King Richard I visited the castle in 1189 and King Edward II in 1307. In the 1st Barons' War , the castle was held against Johann Ohneland . After the Battle of Byland , Robert I took the castle in 1322 and destroyed it. The castle was not repaired and fell into ruin.
