Almond peach

The almond peach ( Prunus × persicoides (Ser.) M.Vilm. & Bois , Syn .: Prunus × amygdalopersica (Weston) Rehder ) is a cross between the almond ( Prunus dulcis ) and the peach ( Prunus persica ).

Appearance

The almond-peach is a tree or shrub with thorny short shoots , depending on the level of refinement . The leaves are lanceolate, like the almond ( Prunus dulcis ), but more sharply serrate. The flowers are 4 to 5 centimeters in diameter, light pink with a dark center. It blooms in April. The fruits are similar to those of the peach , but are dry-fleshed.

This hybrid is rare and is cultivated for its decorative flowers and as a bee feeder.
