Mandi Bahauddin is a city in the north of the Pakistani province of Punjab with 198,609 inhabitants (2017 census) and the capital of the District Mandi Bahauddin . Mandi Bahauddin lies between two rivers, Jehlam and Chanab .

The city is also known for the Battle of the Hydaspes between Alexander the Great and the Indian king Porus , in which Alexander's horse Bucephalus is said to have died.

On May 31, 2011, the body of journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad was found in a canal near the city , showing signs of torture. Shahzad came into their field of fire because of his reporting on the activities of the Pakistani intelligence service ISI .
